Privacy Policy

YepGS doesn't ask you to sign up. It uses Google Analytics to count visits and how often the GS pay lookup, comparison, and per diem calculator are used. This page explains what information is handled when you visit and who is responsible for it.

Who is responsible

YepGS is run by Masaaki Morishita, who decides how the information described on this page is used. For questions about it, email hello@yepgs.com.

Hosting

YepGS is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages, report pages that fail to load, and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, your browser, and the address requested. If Cloudflare needs to check that a visitor isn't a bot, it may set a cookie for that check. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how it handles this information.

What you enter

The GS pay lookup on the home page, the comparison on the compare page, and the per diem calculator run in your browser. They don't send what you enter (the year, locality pay area, grade, step, and the areas you compare, or your trip's destinations, dates, and meals) to a server, and YepGS doesn't save it. To show the results, your browser downloads OPM's pay tables for the year you choose, or GSA's per diem rates for the fiscal years of your trip, so those requests show which year's tables or which fiscal year's rates were loaded. Google Analytics does record when you use the GS pay lookup, comparison, per diem calculator, Print, Copy breakdown, or Copy link, and for which year or fiscal year and which locality pay area or state, as described under Visit statistics below.

So you can share them, these pages add your choices to the page's address (the part after the ?). Anyone you share the address with can see them, and your browser may keep the address in its history. When you open or reload an address that holds them, or go from that page to another YepGS page (as the address of the page you came from), Cloudflare, which hosts the site, receives the full address with the request, as described under Hosting. Google Analytics receives the address without that part.

Visit statistics

YepGS uses Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to see which pages are visited and how often the GS pay lookup, comparison, and per diem calculator are used. It sets two cookies on this site for up to two years: _ga holds a random identifier for your browser, so that repeat visits can be counted, and _ga_ followed by an ID keeps track of your current visit.

It records information such as the page you visit, the site that linked to it, your approximate location (country, region, and city, worked out from your IP address), your browser and its language, your operating system, device type, and screen size, the time of your visit, whether you scroll to the bottom of a page, and the links you follow to other sites, including their addresses. On the home page, when GS pay lookup results appear and when you use Copy link, it records which one you used, the year, and the locality pay area. On the compare page, when comparison results appear and when you use Copy link, it records which one you used, the year, and the locality pay area the others are compared with, but not the other areas. In the per diem calculator, when the breakdown appears and when you use Copy breakdown, the Print button, or Copy link, it records which one you used, the fiscal year of your departure date, and the state of your first destination, but not the destination itself. It doesn't record the grade, the step, or your trip's dates and meals, or the address or breakdown you copied. Google Analytics doesn't log or store IP addresses.

Advertising

YepGS doesn't show ads and doesn't use advertising cookies.

Email

If you email hello@yepgs.com, Cloudflare Email Routing forwards the message to the operator's inbox. Your email address and message are used only to read and act on what you sent. They aren't sold or used for marketing.

Children

YepGS isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

When YepGS starts or stops using a service that handles your information, including visit statistics and ads, this page is updated at the same time, and the date at the top changes.
