Your trip

Destination

For a trip to more than one place, add each destination in order. The date you move to the next destination is also the first day there.

How the calculator works

Each night uses the lodging rate for that night's date at that destination, so a stay that crosses into a new season changes rate on the first night of the new season. Each day uses the M&IE rate for that day's destination.

On the departure day and the return day, M&IE is the first and last day amount from GSA's M&IE breakdown table, which is 75% of the daily rate. A trip that starts and ends on the same day gets that amount once. Each meal provided that day is deducted at the amount in the table, but M&IE never goes below the incidental expenses amount.

For a trip to more than one destination, the day you move uses the destination where you spend that night, and the return day uses the last destination. Each day uses the rates for the federal fiscal year it falls in.

If your destination isn't listed for its state, choose Not listed (standard CONUS rate). Check the county first: a city that isn't listed may be in a listed county. The rates by state list each destination and the counties it covers, and methods and sources explains the rules.
